fertilizer phosphate sulfur consumed cost is the average cost per long ton of sulfur consumed in phosphate production and included in cost of goods sold.
Why it matters
Sulfur cost is an important raw-material driver of phosphate conversion economics. Mosaic reported a 2025 North American consumed sulfur cost of $237 per long ton, up sharply from the prior year.
Investor caution
Consumed sulfur cost is only one input to phosphate gross margin. It does not include ammonia, phosphate rock, plant conversion, maintenance, freight, water treatment, or other issuer-classified costs.
