Source & methodology

Grizzly Bulls subtracts the retained total nonfarm payroll employment level for the exact prior calendar month from the retained current-month level. BLS publishes both levels in thousands, so the derived difference remains in thousands and is multiplied by 1,000 only for reader-facing job counts. Months without an exact prior-month source observation are omitted rather than bridged across a gap.

Calculation: current total nonfarm payroll employment − prior calendar month's total nonfarm payroll employment.

Dataset: All employees, total nonfarm, seasonally adjusted, series CES0000000001.

Unit: Jobs. Frequency: Monthly.

Expected refresh: Monthly after the Bureau of Labor Statistics releases the Employment Situation. History target: 2017 onward.

Revision behavior: Revisable. This series inherits CES revision behavior; revisions to either monthly payroll level flow through to the derived month-to-month change. Read revision methodology.

Vintage: Latest-known retained history. This page does not preserve prior publication vintages.
