Base case is our central scenario. Bear and bull cases show how uncertainty around private holdings, retained proceeds, taxes and liabilities can move the estimate.

Greg Berlanti’s fortune has an unusually concrete foundation for a television producer. Forbes reported that he sold his stake in past and future television-catalog profits for more than $300M in 2018, connecting a large transaction directly to an economic interest he owned rather than merely to studio revenue.
He continued earning heavily after that sale. Forbes estimated $75M of entertainment earnings in 2021 and another $40M after fees in its 2024 showrunner period. Those later figures show that the catalog transaction was a liquidity event inside an ongoing production career, not the end of his earning power.
The main uncertainty is what happened after the money was earned. Taxes, reinvestment, spending and the value of any rights left outside the 2018 sale are private. Even so, the combination of a documented nine-figure personal transaction and repeated later income gives the estimate unusually strong support.
Sources[1][2]A reported salary, company sale or brand valuation is not automatically current personal wealth. We show the pieces that can be tied to retained evidence and keep historical flows separate.
The estimate discounts the catalog-rights transaction and later entertainment income into retained capital, then adds a smaller range for continuing production interests. The transaction amount is adjusted for taxes and retention rather than booked as permanent cash.

Forbes reported that Berlanti sold his stake in past and future television-catalog profits in 2018 for more than $300M, and later estimated $75M of 2021 entertainment earnings. The model discounts those pretax figures for taxes, spending and reinvestment.
Sources[1][2]Forbes estimated another $40M after fees in its 2024 showrunner period and described active film and television pacts after the catalog monetization. The remaining private economics are not disclosed, so this component stays smaller than retained transaction capital.
