Nicolas Cage Net Worth Estimate
What we can support today
Cage earned like a major star and still hit a liquidity wall
Forbes reported $38 million of twelve-month pay in 2008 and roughly $17 million of taxable income in 2004. Those numbers establish earning power, but they do not tell us how much survived.
The tax record changes the entire retention model
By 2010 Forbes was reporting more than $6 million of back taxes, foreclosures and distressed property sales. For Cage, taxes and leverage are not generic assumptions in a spreadsheet. They are person-specific evidence that a large share of peak income did not remain on the balance sheet.
Recovery is plausible, but the current asset map is thin
Cage has continued working at a high pace, so the bear case is not a claim that the earlier crisis froze his finances forever. The uncertainty is that the rebuilt asset base is much less visible than the earlier losses.
How to read this estimate
The headline number is a scenario result. The evidence below shows which parts are directly observed, which parts are modeled, and which historical cash flows are deliberately kept out of the current balance sheet.
Observed
Dated ownership, market values and transaction facts anchor what can be measured directly. An observed component may still cover only part of the total balance sheet.
Modeled
Bear, base and bull components are current-value scenarios built from person-specific evidence. They are not presented as directly observed holdings.
Not double-counted
Career earnings, salaries and sale proceeds explain how wealth formed. We do not add them again as current assets unless retained capital is separately modeled.
Observed assets and financial anchors
A reported salary, company sale or brand valuation is not automatically current personal wealth. We show the pieces that can be tied to retained evidence and keep historical flows separate.
Scenario balance sheet
These are the modeled current components that add up to our bear, base and bull cases. A wide range is a feature here: it shows how much private-market and retained-capital uncertainty can move the answer.

Modeled retained acting and production capital
Forbes reported $38 million of 12-month pay in 2008 and taxable income around $17 million in 2004. Those figures establish substantial historical earning capacity, but they cannot be carried forward intact because later tax and liquidity problems were material.
Sources[1]Modeled remaining property and private assets
By 2010 Forbes reported more than $6 million of back taxes and multiple distressed property outcomes, including foreclosures and a castle sale. The model therefore assigns only a modest present private-asset range rather than extrapolating from Cage’s former property collection.
Sources[2]How we calculate net worth
Cage’s estimate starts with documented eight-figure earnings, then applies an unusually severe retention haircut because Forbes also documented back taxes, foreclosures and forced asset sales. Former homes and castles are not reconstructed as current assets.
What could move the estimate
- How much debt and tax exposure remains today?
- What current property and investment assets survived or were rebuilt after the 2009-10 liquidity crisis?
- How much recent acting income has been retained?
