Base case is our central scenario. Bear and bull cases show how uncertainty around private holdings, retained proceeds, taxes and liabilities can move the estimate.
Switch scenarios to see how the total and each component move together. The bars show each positive component's share of the estimated assets in that scenario, not audited holdings.
Forbes estimated at least $35 million of off-field earnings in 2023 and $60 million annually in 2024. That endorsement platform is unusually large for baseball and supplies a substantial realized-earnings base outside the Dodgers contract.
Those figures are still gross earnings before taxes, representation, spending and investment outcomes. The estimate therefore models retained capital rather than equating cumulative income with current cash.
MLB reported that Ohtani’s 10-year, $700 million Dodgers deal pays only $2 million annually during the playing term and defers $680 million into annual payments from 2034 through 2043.
That contractual stream has economic value, but treating its full face amount as current wealth would ignore timing and tax uncertainty. The current estimate keeps the future payments visible without pretending they are already liquid assets.
Sources[1][3][2]A reported salary, company sale or brand valuation is not automatically current personal wealth. We show the pieces that can be tied to retained evidence and keep historical flows separate.
Forbes estimated Ohtani was earning $60 million annually off the field in 2024, up from at least $35 million in 2023.
Sources[3][1]MLB reported a 10-year, $700 million Dodgers contract with $680 million deferred and only $2 million paid annually during the playing term.
Sources[2]MLB reported that the $680 million of deferred compensation is scheduled to be paid from 2034 through 2043 at $68 million per year.
Sources[2]Realized salary and endorsement income are treated as historical inflows. The model does not add the $680 million face value of future Dodgers payments directly to current wealth because payment timing, taxes and present value matter.

Forbes estimated $35 million of off-field earnings in 2023 and $60 million annually in 2024. The model treats those endorsement earnings as historical inflows after taxes, representation, spending and investment outcomes.
Sources[1][3]Ohtani had realized MLB compensation before joining the Dodgers and now receives $2 million annually during the playing term. The model ranges retained realized baseball capital without counting the $680 million face value of future deferred compensation as current cash.

Initial Grizzly Bulls estimate published with realized baseball and endorsement earnings separated from long-dated deferred compensation.
This is the first retained snapshot, so there is no earlier comparable Grizzly Bulls estimate to show yet.
Forbes estimated $30 million of on-field pay and at least $35 million of endorsements for the 2023 season.
Sources[1]MLB reported that Ohtani would receive $2 million annually during the 10-year playing term and $680 million later from 2034 through 2043.
Sources[2]Forbes estimated Ohtani’s endorsement income at $60 million annually before taxes and agents’ fees.
