Airline passenger revenue is revenue earned from transporting revenue passengers and is the main top-line component for a passenger airline.

American Airlines reported $15.214B of passenger revenue in Q2 2026, up 15.9% from $13.123B a year earlier.

Separate traffic from pricing

Passenger revenue can rise because revenue passenger miles increase, passenger yield improves, or mix shifts toward higher-value cabins and routes.

Passenger revenue is not the same as total operating revenue because airlines also earn cargo and other revenue. For capacity-normalized analysis, compare it with PRASM rather than using the dollar total alone.
