Airline total revenue per available seat mile (TRASM) measures total operating revenue generated for each unit of seat capacity.

American Airlines reported 20.45 cents of TRASM in Q2 2026, up 10.3% from 18.54 cents a year earlier.

Broader than passenger unit revenue

TRASM divides total operating revenue by available seat miles, so it includes passenger, cargo, and other operating revenue. That makes it broader than PRASM.

Compare TRASM with CASM to see how revenue per unit of capacity is moving relative to operating cost per unit. Similar TRASM growth can have very different profit implications if CASM moves differently.

Primary sources: American Airlines Q2 2026 Form 10-Q and Q2 2026 operating statistics filed with the SEC.
