Financial data EMEA Organic ASV growth measures the year-over-year change in FactSet's Organic Annual Subscription Value for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. FactSet defines ASV as the forward-looking revenue for the next 12 months from subscription services currently supplied to clients, then removes specified acquisition, disposition, discontinued-business, and foreign-exchange effects for the organic measure.
EMEA Organic ASV growth = (current organic EMEA ASV / comparable prior-period organic EMEA ASV) - 1
At August 31, 2026, FactSet reported $623.6M of EMEA Organic ASV, up 5.2% year over year. Companywide Organic ASV was $2.568B and grew 7.0%, while Americas Organic ASV grew 7.1% and APAC grew 10.6%.
The three-quarter path says more than the latest 5.2%
EMEA's fiscal 2026 Organic ASV growth did not move in a straight line. It was 4.3% at February 28, accelerated to 5.6% at May 31, and finished the fiscal year at 5.2% on August 31. Organic EMEA ASV itself rose from $594.2M to $608.7M to $623.6M across those three measurement dates.
That distinction matters because a year-over-year growth rate can ease even while the underlying subscription base continues to increase. The late-year result therefore reads as continued EMEA ASV expansion with some deceleration from the Q3 growth rate, not as a sequential contraction in the subscription base.
FactSet also disclosed in Q2 and Q3 that EMEA Organic ASV growth was driven mainly by data solutions and workstations. That provides a more useful operating explanation than treating the regional percentage as a standalone demand score.
ASV is a run-rate measure, not booked or guaranteed revenue
FactSet's wording can sound similar to annual recurring revenue, but the company does not label ASV as ARR, backlog, or remaining performance obligations. ASV annualizes subscription services currently being supplied to clients. It is a point-in-time run-rate view of those services, not GAAP revenue already recognized during the quarter.
The contract boundary is important. FactSet states that, with the proper notice required by contract, clients can add to, delete portions of, or terminate service, subject to certain limitations. The next-12-month ASV amount therefore should not be read as a locked contractual cash flow or as a backlog that must convert dollar-for-dollar into recognized revenue.
This is different from saying the subscriptions are low quality. FactSet reported annual ASV retention above 95% at both February 28 and May 31, 2026. The point is narrower: high observed retention and a forward subscription run rate are not the same thing as an unconditional contractual obligation.
Revenue and ASV can diverge without contradicting each other
Fiscal Q4 2026 illustrates the timing difference. FactSet reported 6.6% organic EMEA revenue growth and $154.8M of EMEA quarterly revenue while ending Organic ASV growth was 5.2%. Revenue reflects services recognized during the quarter. Ending ASV annualizes the subscription services in place at the measurement date.
The two series can diverge because of pricing, product additions and deletions, client starts and cancellations, implementation timing, currency and acquisition adjustments, and the timing of when subscription changes enter recognized revenue. ASV can also grow faster than client count if existing clients add products or pay more, while client additions can remain positive even when expansion within the installed base slows.
For peer work, preserve FactSet's exact definition. Another data provider's ARR, backlog, contracted recurring revenue, or organic-growth measure may use different cancellation rights, acquisition adjustments, currency treatment, or recognition boundaries. Comparing the percentages without those definitions can create false precision.
Read this with EMEA organic revenue growth, global Organic ASV growth, and APAC Organic ASV growth to separate regional subscription momentum from recognized revenue and companywide mix.
