Accenture at $196.64: AI Productivity, Organic Growth, M&A, and Valuation Sensitivity

A neutral technical study of Accenture's operating record, AI-era delivery economics, recurring acquisition spending, and the growth and cash-margin assumptions that reconcile with the October 7, 2026 market price.

At a 10% mature owner-earnings margin, the base reverse DCF requires about 0.7% annual revenue growth

Accenture's October 7 closing price and approximately 596M fiscal-year-end shares imply about $117.2B of equity value. FY2026 free cash flow was $11.62B, while the company reported 5% local-currency revenue growth, approximately 3% organic growth, and record bookings of $84.54B. Because acquisitions are a recurring use of cash, this study also shows owner-earnings cases that deduct part of acquisition spending rather than capitalizing headline FCF without adjustment.

Revenue and free cash flow increased while adjusted margin stayed stable

From FY2022 through FY2026, Accenture's revenue increased from $61.59B to $74.18B and reported free cash flow increased from $8.82B to $11.62B. Adjusted operating margin moved from 15.2% to 15.8%. The history therefore shows slower growth than FY2022 but not a collapse in consolidated economics. Sources: FY2022 Form 10-K and FY2026 results.

Year-end revenue per employee recovered to a five-year high

Accenture ended FY2026 with 814,391 employees, compared with approximately 721K at FY2022 year-end. Dividing annual revenue by year-end headcount produces roughly $91.1K of revenue per employee in FY2026, above the FY2022-FY2025 points in this simple series. The denominator is imperfect because it is year-end rather than average headcount and acquisitions add employees throughout the year.

AI demand is growing while management reports lower labor intensity

Accenture's AI disclosures point in two directions. The company reported $5.9B of FY2025 advanced/generative-AI bookings and $2.7B of advanced-AI revenue. In FY2026, more than 400 clients initiated first advanced-AI work with Accenture. Management also said AI contributed to higher revenue per person and expects FY2027 hiring to grow more slowly partly because of AI. See the Q4 FY2026 transcript.

AI and data professionals increased from a roughly 40,000 starting point in FY2023 to about 77,000 in FY2025 and nearly 110,000 in FY2026.

Acquisition spending is too large and variable to ignore

Strategic acquisition spending ranged from $1.5B in FY2025 to $6.6B in FY2024. FY2026 spending was $4.9B across 17 acquisitions, and management expects roughly $5B again in FY2027. Those transactions purchase growth as well as capabilities, so the full amount cannot automatically be treated as maintenance capex.

Strategic acquisition spending as a share of reported FCF

Strategic acquisition spending ranged from about 14% of reported free cash flow in FY2025 to about 77% in FY2024.

Goodwill increased from $22.54B at FY2025 year-end to $26.82B at FY2026 year-end. The FY2025 filing also records impairment associated primarily with the divestiture of two acquisitions that no longer aligned with strategy. Public disclosures do not provide enough post-deal profit detail to calculate a portfolio acquisition ROIC.

Owner earnings depend heavily on how much M&A is treated as maintenance-like

FY2027 FCF guidance is $11B-$11.8B, with a midpoint of $11.4B. The three cases below subtract different amounts of acquisition spending from that reported-FCF midpoint. These deductions are analytical conventions; they are not management guidance about maintenance capital.

The reverse DCF tests how little growth can reconcile with the reference price

The valuation model starts from the base owner-earnings convention: $9.9B on an illustrative FY2027 revenue base of $77.52B, or a 12.77% starting margin. The revenue base applies the midpoint of management's 3%-6% local-currency growth range to FY2026 revenue because management assumes roughly flat FX. It is a modeling convention rather than dollar-denominated revenue guidance.

This is an assumption-driven reverse DCF, not a forecast or price target. Revenue grows at one solved annual rate, FCF margin moves linearly from the starting assumption to the horizon assumption, and the terminal value applies the entered perpetual growth rate to horizon FCF. Net cash is added to enterprise value to reconcile to equity value; a negative net-cash input represents net debt.

The valuation surface is highly sensitive to both growth and normalized cash margins

The matrix runs the same DCF in the forward direction. Each cell fixes one revenue CAGR and one horizon owner-earnings margin, adds $2.72B of modeled net cash, and divides by 596M shares. No probability is assigned to any cell.

Outlined cell: 0% revenue growth + 10% mature owner-earnings margin = $188, close to the $196.64 reference price.

One illustrative operating path is 4% annual revenue growth with a 12% mature owner-earnings margin. Under the base discount assumptions, that combination maps to approximately $281 per share. That figure is a sensitivity output, not a fair-value estimate.

The main unresolved variables are pricing, M&A economics, and who captures AI productivity

The financial record through FY2026 does not resolve the long-run impact of AI on services economics. Several current disclosures are directly relevant to that uncertainty.
