Source & methodology

BEA reports nominal GDP as a seasonally adjusted annual rate. Values in the official workbook are in millions of dollars and are converted to billions for display. Historical estimates may change after BEA revisions.

Dataset: National Income and Product Accounts, Table 1.1.5, GDP line 1.

Unit: Billions of current U.S. dollars, annual rate. Frequency: Quarterly.

Expected refresh: Quarterly after the Bureau of Economic Analysis releases GDP estimates; previously published quarters can be revised. History target: 1947 onward.

Revision behavior: Revisable. BEA revises GDP estimates as additional information becomes available, including annual updates. This chart reflects the latest retained BEA NIPA workbook, not the estimate available on each historical date. Read revision methodology.

Vintage: Latest-known retained history. This page does not preserve prior publication vintages.

Source accessed: Oct 27, 2026.
