Data Cloud Capacity Contract Remaining Life measures the weighted-average time remaining on capacity contracts.
Snowflake reported a 2.4-year weighted-average remaining life of its capacity contracts as of July 31, 2026.
Why it matters
Contract life adds duration context to remaining performance obligations. Two companies can report the same RPO balance while having very different conversion timelines if one portfolio is concentrated in shorter contracts and the other in longer commitments.
For consumption-based platforms, contract duration also does not dictate exact revenue timing because customers can vary when they use contracted capacity.
Investor caution
Do not treat weighted-average contract life as the same thing as expected revenue-recognition life. Snowflake separately disclosed that it expected about 54% of RPO to be recognized during the next 12 months based on historical consumption patterns.
