Deathcare cemetery sales deferred to backlog measures current-period cemetery sales production that is not yet recognized as revenue and is instead added to future backlog.

SCI reported $1.0136 billion of cemetery sales production deferred to backlog in 2025.

More than half of cemetery production was deferred

SCI reported $1.8509 billion of total cemetery sales production across preneed and atneed channels.

The $1.0136 billion deferred amount was about 54.8% of that production. The ratio shows how much current selling activity depended on future recognition timing.

Deferral is a timing classification, not a lost sale

Deferred production is not a cancellation or economic loss. It represents sales for which the relevant revenue-recognition condition has not yet been satisfied.

That is why Cemetery Revenue Recognized from Backlog must be tracked separately.

The denominator matters

Do not divide deferred production only by preneed production. SCI's table shows that both preneed and atneed cemetery sales can be deferred.

Use total cemetery sales production as the broader bridge when analyzing the $1.0136 billion figure.
