SCI's reported $5,823 average revenue per service excludes general agency revenue, non-funeral-home preneed sales revenue, and other revenue from its numerator.

That means the full $2.340 billion of comparable funeral revenue is not the denominator to use when recreating Comparable Funeral Average Revenue per Service.

Services and revenue must be aligned before building unit economics

SCI performed 347,696 comparable funeral services. Dividing the full revenue figure by the service count produces roughly $6,730, which is intentionally different from the issuer-defined $5,823 metric.
