Evernorth pre-tax adjusted income from operations is Cigna's principal issuer-defined profit measure for the Evernorth Health Services segment.

Evernorth reported $1.663B in Q2 2026, down 2% from $1.696B a year earlier. That contrasts with adjusted revenues, which increased 6%.

It is an adjusted segment measure, not GAAP operating income

Cigna excludes net investment gains or losses, acquired-intangible amortization, special items, and certain other items when calculating adjusted income from operations. Segment results are presented pre-tax. The measure therefore belongs inside Cigna's own reconciliation rather than being silently substituted for GAAP income.

The mix underneath the total also mattered: Pharmacy Benefit Services adjusted income fell 27%, while Specialty and Care Services adjusted income rose 22%. Cigna reported a 2.7% Evernorth pre-tax margin, calculated from adjusted income divided by adjusted revenues.

Primary source: The Cigna Group Q2 2026 Form 10-Q filed with the SEC.
