Heavy equipment Resource Industries segment profit is Caterpillar's reported profit measure for its mining, heavy-construction, quarry, aggregates, and rail operating segment.

Caterpillar reported $693M of Resource Industries segment profit in Q2 2026, up 23% from $563M in Q2 2025.

Volume growth does not flow through one-for-one

Caterpillar said the profit increase included a $269M benefit from higher sales volume, partly offset by $158M of unfavorable manufacturing costs. Segment profit therefore shows conversion after cost effects rather than simply mirroring equipment demand.

Read it with Resource Industries total sales and Resource Industries profit margin. Segment profit remains narrower than consolidated operating income.
