Payment network cash volume measures the dollar value of cash-related activity carried on a payment network rather than purchases of goods and services.

Visa says cash volume generally includes cash access transactions, balance access transactions, balance transfers, and convenience checks. For the three months ended March 31, 2026, Visa reported $626B of cash volume, compared with $598B a year earlier.

Keep cash activity outside purchase volume

Visa reports cash volume separately from payments volume. Adding the two produces total nominal volume under Visa's presentation, but the components describe different customer activity and can grow at different rates.

Processed transactions include both payments and cash transactions processed on Visa's networks, so transaction-count growth can reflect a different mix than dollar-volume growth.
