Solid waste Collection and Disposal volume measures the revenue impact from changes in activity across collection, transfer, and landfill operations.

WM reported Collection and Disposal volume of -1.8% in Q2 2026. Excluding prior-year wildfire cleanup activity, the decline was 0.4%.

Volume is a revenue-impact measure, not literal unit growth

WM calculates the percentage relative to prior-year related-business revenue adjusted for divestitures. It therefore should not be read as a direct percentage change in tons, customers, routes, containers, or service stops.

Read it with Collection and Disposal yield and landfill MSW volume. Q2 volume was pressured by prior-year wildfire cleanup activity and intentional shedding of lower-margin residential business.
