Solid waste landfill municipal solid waste volume measures the revenue impact from changes in municipal solid waste, or MSW, landfill activity.

WM reported MSW volume of +0.2% in Q2 2026 and +1.3% for the first half of 2026.

MSW volume should not be read as tons growth

WM reports the percentage as a revenue impact relative to prior-year related-business revenue adjusted for divestitures. It is therefore an operating-revenue bridge, not a direct percentage change in landfill tons.

Read it with landfill MSW yield and Collection and Disposal volume. WM separately noted that total landfill volumes were affected by prior-year wildfire cleanup activity, which can make broader landfill trends differ from MSW.
