Solid waste landfill municipal solid waste yield measures pricing-driven revenue growth from municipal solid waste, or MSW, landfill activity, excluding volume changes.

WM reported 5.2% MSW landfill yield in Q2 2026, compared with 5.9% for the first half of 2026.

MSW yield is more specific than total landfill yield

WM reported total landfill yield of 2.5% in Q2, while saying landfill pricing growth was primarily driven by MSW. Different waste streams and mix can therefore make the broader landfill figure move differently from MSW pricing economics.

Pair MSW yield with landfill MSW volume and Collection and Disposal yield. Yield remains broader than a posted gate-rate increase because realized service and business mix also matter.
