Solid waste residential collection yield measures the effect of pricing and service-mix changes on residential collection revenue, excluding volume.

WM reported 6.1% residential collection yield in Q2 2026, compared with 6.2% for the first half of 2026.

Yield can rise while volume falls

Residential yield reflects realized price, fees, mix, customer wins and losses, and retention actions. WM simultaneously reported negative residential volume as it intentionally exited some lower-margin business, illustrating why yield and activity should be analyzed separately.

Pair it with residential collection volume and Collection and Disposal yield to distinguish monetization from customer and service activity.
