Costco operated 928 warehouses worldwide at May 10, 2026.

Why it matters

Warehouse count provides the capacity base for physical expansion. New warehouses can add sales outside the comparable-sales base until they have operated long enough to qualify.

Investors should therefore pair unit count with comparable sales and new-unit contribution.

Investor caution

Raw warehouse growth is not automatically incremental. Relocations and openings in existing markets can cannibalize older locations, and international markets can have different maturity profiles.

  • Net sales and footprint expansion: Net sales combine the mature comparable base with sales from newer warehouses.
