Billionaire Public-Equity Ownership Census
492 of 2,549 profiles.
0.7% of the universe under the strict retained methodology.
1,975 profiles.
“Not found” is not a verified zero.
How far did the retained SEC evidence reach?
This measures research coverage, not how many billionaires actually own stock. Missing filing evidence is an unresolved research state, not a negative holding.
What the census proves — and what it does not
Supported conclusions
- The retained Forms 3/4/5 and Schedule 13 pipelines reached 492 profiles with some position evidence.
- Only 19 profiles satisfied the stricter current-holding support chain at this snapshot.
- Source reach was the dominant first blocker across the full universe.
- Current holdings require reviewed identity, security, holder, position, freshness, and valuation semantics.
Unsupported inferences
- This is not an estimate of the percentage of billionaires who own public stocks.
- A missing SEC match does not mean a billionaire owns no public securities.
- Forms 3/4/5 and Schedule 13 are not treated as a complete cross-source ownership search.
- The September 6 counts are a historical snapshot, not a claim about today’s coverage.
Where the evidence chain stopped
Each profile receives one first blocker; these counts partition all 2,549 profiles.
Source-family reach
| Evidence family / state | Profiles | Interpretation |
|---|---|---|
| Forms 3/4/5 candidate evidence | 484 | Retained insider-ownership filing evidence; not automatically a current holding. |
| Schedule 13 filing evidence | 347 | Retained Schedule 13D/G filing reach. |
| Schedule 13 current profile/issuer pairs | 110 | Current-pair evidence after retention/review. |
| Supported current public holding | 19 | Profiles satisfying strict current holding and valuation semantics. |
Methodology
- Universe: 2,549 billionaire profiles in the retained September 6, 2026 measurement.
- Methodology identifier: wealth-billionaire-completeness-census-v1.
- Supported source families were retained Forms 3/4/5 and Schedule 13D/G pipelines.
- A filing match alone is insufficient; the chain preserves reviewed person/holder, issuer/security, current-position, market-unit, freshness, valuation, and public-use semantics.
This is a public projection of retained analysis billionaire-completeness-2026-09-06. The research page does not grant new authority to the underlying stock or wealth data.
Limitations
- Proxy tables, annual reports, official-company disclosures, and foreign ownership regimes were not yet complete source families in this snapshot.
- No-public-holdings and research-complete-no-public-holdings remain different states.
- The retained evidence coverage is not a population estimate of billionaire stock ownership.
- The page update date does not change the September 6, 2026 data snapshot or imply that the underlying filing coverage is current today.
