R&D Solutions contracted backlog is IQVIA's contracted future work in its outsourced clinical-research and related R&D services business.

IQVIA reported $34.2B of contracted backlog at June 30, 2026, compared with a recast $34.0B at December 31, 2025.

Stock of contracted work, not current revenue

Backlog is accumulated contracted work, while R&D Solutions revenue is what was recognized in the period. The two should not be added or compared as if they use the same timing basis.

The more useful near-term bridge is next-12-month backlog conversion, because only part of total backlog is expected to become revenue within a year.

Primary sources: IQVIA Q2 2026 Form 10-Q and Q2 2026 earnings release filed with the SEC.
