Industrial gases Americas sales growth measures year-over-year growth in Linde's Americas segment sales. Linde reported 7% Americas sales growth in the second quarter of 2026, to $4.083B from $3.812B.

The reported rate combines several different growth drivers

A basic regional sales-growth calculation is (current-period sales - prior-period sales) / prior-period sales. Using Linde's rounded disclosed balances, Americas sales increased by about $271M, and $271M divided by $3.812B is about 7.1%, consistent with the reported 7% rate after rounding.

The percentage is not a pure volume measure. Linde's Q2 2026 Americas bridge was 2% volume, 2% price/mix, 2% currency and 1% acquisitions/divestitures, while cost pass-through contributed 0%. Those components add to the reported 7% growth rate. The bridge is more useful than the headline alone because it separates customer activity, pricing and mix, foreign-exchange translation, and acquired or divested businesses.

The 2% volume contribution is the clearest demand signal inside that bridge. Linde said higher Americas volume was driven primarily by the electronics and manufacturing end markets. The 2% price/mix contribution answers a different question: it captures the sales effect of pricing and business mix rather than physical activity. Neither component should be treated as total organic growth on its own.

Sales growth and profit conversion can diverge

Americas operating profit increased 5% in Q2 2026 while sales increased 7%. The region reported a 31.2% operating margin, down from 31.7% a year earlier. Linde said higher pricing, productivity, higher volumes and currency translation more than offset cost inflation, but sales still grew faster than operating profit.

That comparison prevents a common shortcut. Positive price/mix and volume contributions do not guarantee margin expansion, and currency can increase reported sales and profit without representing local pricing power. In the Americas, cost pass-through was flat, so the quarterly sales denominator was less affected by pass-through than APAC or EMEA.

The first-half comparison adds another period. Americas sales were $8.108B in the first six months of 2026, up 8% year over year. That broader result helps distinguish one-quarter bridge composition from the regional trend without implying that Q2's exact driver mix will repeat.

Keep the regional and accounting boundaries intact

Linde's Americas segment covers industrial-gases operations in roughly 20 countries, including the United States, Canada, Mexico and Brazil. Regional sales growth therefore combines countries, currencies, end markets and business mix under Linde's segment definition. It is not a standardized industrial-gas demand index and should not be compared mechanically with another issuer's geography label.

For cross-region context, compare APAC sales growth with EMEA sales growth. Read the Americas bridge alongside Americas operating margin when evaluating whether reported growth converted into regional profit.

Where this concept fits
  • Regional sales-growth comparisonCurrent relationship
Americas, APAC and EMEA sales growth preserve Linde's geography-level growth comparisons while keeping each region's sales base and reported bridge separate.
  • Demand, price, currency and pass-through bridgeCurrent relationship
The three regional sales-growth owners retain the underlying volume or volume/equipment, price/mix, cost pass-through, currency and acquisition effects needed to distinguish reported growth from physical demand and operating conversion.
