Industrial gases APAC sales growth measures year-over-year growth in Linde's Asia-Pacific segment sales. Linde reported 13% APAC sales growth in the second quarter of 2026, to $1.870B from $1.655B.
The full bridge explains why APAC grew 13%
A basic sales-growth calculation is (current-period sales - prior-period sales) / prior-period sales. Linde's rounded APAC balances increased by about $215M. Dividing $215M by $1.655B gives about 13.0%, consistent with the reported growth rate.
The reported result combines several operating and translation effects. Linde's Q2 bridge was 6% volume/equipment, 2% price/mix, 2% cost pass-through and 3% currency, with 0% from acquisitions/divestitures. Those disclosed components add to the 13% reported increase.
The largest contribution needs a definition boundary. Linde reports APAC volume and equipment together, rather than disclosing a standardized pure gas-volume percentage. The 6% volume/equipment contribution therefore should not be interpreted as pure gas-volume growth. Linde said new project start-ups and equipment sales were primary drivers, so project timing can materially affect the quarterly bridge.
Pass-through and currency can lift sales without equivalent operating conversion
Cost pass-through contributed 2% to APAC sales growth. Linde says pass-through has minimal impact on operating profit, which means it can enlarge the sales denominator without adding a similar amount to profit. Currency contributed another 3% to reported sales growth, but translation is not the same as local demand or pricing power.
That distinction matters when the sales result is compared with profitability. APAC operating profit increased 8% while sales increased 13%, and the reported operating margin was 28.4%, down from 29.6% a year earlier. Linde said the margin decline was 120 basis points on the reported basis but 70 basis points excluding cost pass-through. The sales bridge therefore contains both genuine operating growth and denominator effects that should not be treated as interchangeable.
For a second period, APAC sales were $3.571B in the first six months of 2026, up 12%. That result supports a broader regional growth trend while still leaving quarter-to-quarter project and equipment timing relevant.
Regional comparisons require consistent definitions
APAC spans industrial-gas operations across roughly 15 Asian and South Pacific countries and regions, including China, Australia, India and South Korea. End-market mix, project start-ups, equipment activity, currency and pass-through exposure can differ materially from the Americas and EMEA.
Compare Americas sales growth with EMEA sales growth, and read APAC growth alongside APAC operating margin. The 13% headline is useful only when the underlying bridge and Linde's regional perimeter remain attached to it.
