Payments value-added services revenue is revenue from services layered around core payment-network activity, such as security, authentication, consumer engagement, digital solutions, and business or market insights.
It is a non-core-network revenue mix measure, not payment volume or processing revenue.
Mastercard separates payment-network net revenue growth from value-added services and solutions net revenue growth.
Services diversify the revenue model
Core network revenue is primarily driven by payment activity. Value-added services can grow through different drivers:
- cybersecurity and fraud tools;
- authentication;
- analytics and insights;
- consumer acquisition and engagement;
- consulting and business services;
- digital solutions; and
- pricing or product expansion.
Mastercard reported second-quarter 2026 value-added services and solutions net revenue growth of 20%, or 18% on a currency-neutral basis. Payment-network net revenue grew 10%, or 8% currency-neutral.
That divergence helps investors see whether growth is coming only from payment flows or also from adjacent services.
Growth is not automatically organic
Acquisitions, dispositions, pricing, mix, currency, and product launches can affect reported growth. Preserve the issuer's constant-currency and acquisition commentary before treating the rate as an underlying organic-growth measure.
Primary source
Payments value-added services revenue is most useful as a non-core-network revenue mix measure. Read it beside network volume, transaction count, cross-border activity, acquisitions, and currency.
