Table Games Win Percentage: Casino Hold on Table Play

Table games win percentage compares casino table-game win with reported drop, helping investors separate realized gaming hold from changes in wagering volume.

Table games win percentage measures the casino's realized table-game win relative to its reported table games drop.

2= Table Games Win ÷ Table Games Drop

It is often called a table hold or win rate. The percentage describes a realized gaming outcome for the period, not customer traffic or total wagering volume by itself.

Volume and hold are different drivers

Casino table revenue can change because more money entered the games, because the casino held a different percentage of drop, or both.

For example:

1Drop = $800 million
2Win percentage = 22%
3Implied table games win = $176 million

If drop rises to $900 million but win percentage falls to 18%, implied win falls to $162 million. Higher gaming activity does not guarantee higher realized win in a short period.

Actual hold can move around expected hold

Casino games have a mathematical house advantage, but a quarter's reported win percentage is still affected by luck, game mix, bet size, customer mix, and the number of wagers observed.

Wynn Resorts states an expected Las Vegas table games win percentage range of 22% to 26%. Actual results can land above or below that range in an individual period.

A strong quarter therefore does not automatically prove better operations, and a weak quarter does not automatically prove weaker demand.

Game and customer mix matter

A property with more baccarat or high-limit play can have a different realized win profile from one dominated by lower-limit mass-market games.

When comparing operators, preserve:

  • the definition of drop;
  • game mix;
  • mass-market versus premium or VIP mix;
  • property and jurisdiction;
  • promotional and credit treatment;
  • theoretical or expected hold ranges when disclosed; and
  • the length of the measurement period.

Do not compare mass hold with rolling-chip hold blindly

Macau and Singapore operators often report rolling-chip volume and rolling-chip win percentage for VIP play. Rolling-chip volume is a turnover measure that can count repeated wagering, so its win percentage uses a different denominator from mass-market table drop.

That is why a roughly 3% rolling-chip win percentage can coexist with a mass-table win percentage in the high teens or twenties without implying that one business is necessarily worse.

Current filing examples

MGM Resorts reported a 21.8% table games win percentage at its Regional Operations in the second quarter of 2026, based on $222 million of win and $1.020 billion of drop.

Wynn Resorts reported a 23.9% table games win percentage at its Las Vegas Operations for the same quarter. Wynn also disclosed that its expected Las Vegas table games range is 22% to 26%, which gives investors useful context for short-term hold volatility.

Table games win percentage is a realized hold measure. Read it beside table games drop so a temporary swing in gaming outcomes is not mistaken for a change in underlying wagering demand.
