Video game live services net bookings measure sales tied to ongoing game services and extra content rather than the initial full-game purchase.

Electronic Arts reported $1.116B of live services and other net bookings in fiscal Q1 2027, up 3% year over year.

Live-service growth is a franchise-engagement signal

EA said the quarter benefited from higher extra-content sales from Apex Legends, partly offset by lower Ultimate Team sales within EA SPORTS FC.

That illustrates why live-service bookings are useful: they expose monetization after launch and can move differently from full-game net bookings.

Similar economics do not make issuer labels interchangeable

Take-Two's recurrent consumer spending also captures ongoing engagement economics, but the scope and terminology belong to the issuer.

Do not silently combine the two into one standardized series. EA's live services and other category can include a broader set of activity than another publisher's microtransaction or recurrent-spend measure.
