Video game net bookings measure the net amount of game products and services sold digitally or sold-in physically during a reporting period.

Take-Two reported $1.386B of Net Bookings in its fiscal Q1 2027, while Electronic Arts reported $1.349B for the quarter ended June 30, 2026.

Bookings follow the sale more closely than GAAP revenue

EA defines net bookings as net revenue plus the change in deferred net revenue for online-enabled games. Take-Two similarly uses bookings as an operating measure of products and services sold during the period.

That makes bookings useful when revenue recognition stretches some game sales or online services across future periods. A launch can therefore change bookings immediately while GAAP revenue follows a different timetable.

Content mix determines what sits inside the total

A bookings total can combine very different economics.

EA separates live-services net bookings from full-game net bookings. Take-Two separately reports recurrent consumer spending and full game and other bookings.

The top-line bookings number is therefore a transaction-period measure, not a direct proxy for unit sales, recurring revenue, cash flow, or recognized revenue.
