Fitness club same-club sales base count measures the locations included in the issuer's year-over-year same-club sales comparison.

Planet Fitness reported 2,672 clubs in its 2025 same-club sales base.

Clubs season into the base after 12 months of dues billing

Planet Fitness includes clubs that have been open and have billed monthly membership dues for longer than 12 months, beginning with the 13th month.

That rule keeps most newly opened locations out of the mature-club performance measure during their initial ramp.

Ownership changes can temporarily reset the segment-specific base

When a club is acquired from or sold to a franchisee, Planet Fitness removes it from the applicable franchisee-owned or corporate-owned same-club base for 12 months after the ownership change.

The club remains in the system-wide same-club base during that period.

This is an important issuer-specific detail when reconciling ownership-level same-club statistics.

The base count is smaller than the total footprint

Planet Fitness ended 2025 with 2,896 clubs in total.

The difference reflects newer or otherwise ineligible locations. Pair the base count with same-club sales growth rather than treating it as another system-wide club-count measure.
