Manufactured housing factory-built housing gross margin measures factory-built housing gross profit as a percentage of segment net revenue.

Cavco reported a 20.8% factory-built housing gross margin for the quarter ended June 27, 2026, down from 22.6% a year earlier. Champion Homes reported 24.4% for its U.S. Factory-built Housing segment, down from 26.3%.

Gross margin converts selling economics into manufacturing contribution

Home price and product mix can help gross margin, while lumber, components, labor, freight, warranty costs, and plant utilization can work in the other direction.

Both issuers specifically discussed higher input costs as a pressure in the current period.

Channel and volume can complicate peer comparisons

A company with more direct retail activity can have a different revenue and cost structure than a mostly wholesale manufacturer.

Read margin with company-owned retail home sales mix and homes sold, rather than treating the percentage as a stand-alone manufacturing score.
